Agree with AU-53. Not the prettiest coin you've shown, but any SLD in that condition is nice!

I can't recall what they said causes those halos around the stars/devices, cleaning or retoning.?

No! It's a bogus assumption and a total myth. I'm going to write another post about this misconception with examples soon.

AU-50 here. Pleasing original toning, no problems I can see. Complete with the partial 8 in the drapery, quad shield lines, and "armpit hair" die polish lines under the eagle wings. I think this is the only variety available for this better-date coin.

Lovely!

Still learning how to grade these, so I'll go with my first thought at AU-53. I really like it.

As mentioned an old wives tale at best. How exactly is a coin supposedly cleaned but those little areas survive, think about that

Not as nice as some others you find! I can't recall what they said causes those halos around the stars/devices, cleaning or retoning.?

That is residual luster. Luster around the devices will pop out of dark toning.

This one was graded xf-45. Nice crusty original surfaces and a cac candidate. It hammered on ebay for just under 1k.

Conservatively graded. Definitely deserved the CAC approval.
