Quote: I hope this isn't one of those sites that , people say no it's damage but I'll buy it from you!! Thanks for your input,I think ? First and foremost we need to remind ourselves that at times we may not hear what we expect nor is it going to be what what we really wanted it to be,there are many knowledgeable members and experts on this site who offer guidance and advice and they may not be 100% of the time correct! but others will chime in and make the correction, so if there are multiple members offering the same opinion then that needs to be taken into consideration on the validity of the finding! So for a new member seeking advise your response is inappropriate and insulting! and it would be best for you to move on as stated.Good luck Quote: I think I'll just move on from this site. Quote: a million dollar example Even if this were a unique mint error, such errors do not carry a very large premium. I'd venture to say your estimate is about $999,990 overstated. You are welcome to stay, and learn more about coins, and particularly about error coins as we have an entire forum dedicated to them.

Handyman take it from me cool down relax and take it easy. Welcome to the forum I hope you change your mind about us. Some of the contributers have multiple decades with varieties and errors, many novest collectors like myself have learned thousands of hours knowledge in only hundreds. Please look at the thousands of informative posts concerning die breaks and errors and almost any question that can or has came up is in them. I bristle all the time on this forum with the moderators, I have been right exactly once in 500 posts in disagreemeant with them that's a .500 average. Man I have thin skin but I keep coming back for more, I hope you do too. Knowledge is the key man its here these folks don't get paid a dime. I gotta remember to not take myself so dang seriously when I'm shown otherwise by more experienced people. Lighten up bro.

Note the area is reduced, flattened on that area. If it were a die issue, and the die was missing part of the die that would form that area is would be raised on the coin not flattened downwards Die chips are raised on coins when the die breaks away: Die Cuds are raised above the coins surface. Die cracks and chips also rise above the coins devices: So I ask your a question: How can something that broke off the die leave a flat area instead of a raised area? Incuse marks on coins are often coin damage.

I still think that clearer pictures are needed. However, it from what was provided, I would have to agree it looks like something was pressed into it. Sorry!

Is there no chance that it is a lamination issue that broke off because it's a straight line?

On way to tell if it is damage is to look at the same are on the obverse of the coin. If the area is flattened, that is the sure sign. So lets see the obverse.

Quote: Sad when I had a reputable collector say yes this is a error of the mint and the coin is a valuable error coin since nobody has come forward about another one like it. Many errors are one of a kind. I have a few error coins that no one else has found, but that does not make them valuable.
