Gtg is usually used as guess the grade if a coin has already been graded.

Yes, exactly. Grade the Grader.

I don't know what TNG is saying

good to go
guess the grade

I think he's making stuff up.

Looks like I definitely used the wrong lingo. What I am hoping is that you guys can tell me what you think the coin would grade at. It is raw and not graded by TPG. I was thinking about getting it sent in eventually.

Thanks for the photo compliments. The photo stuff is a good distraction to keep me from buying too many coins, lol.

I am no expert on these, but I would say MS64. I think I see slight remnants of an old fingerprint above and to the right of the native's head, but it is very minor if so.

As to the photo quality, the fact that they are detailed enough to see a tiny nick on the reverse rim or a possible fingerprint is telling. I'll give them an A.

There actually is a very light fingerprint mark on the upper right obverse but is impossible to see at most angles. Sometimes these photos have a way of making a coin look worse than it appears in-hand. I'm sure the graders would catch it. Would probably take away a point all things considered.

Authentic - likely MS-something ... impossible to judge the grade with any accuracy despite the otherwise well produced photos.

I do welcome you to the wonderful world of classic silver commemorative - a 50 coin type set of which the Oregon Trail Memorial (1926 - 1939) is often judged as the most artistic member.

I'll say MS-63, and it's a very nice coin. Photos are excellent for your first post!

GTG means "good to go" and "guess the grade."
"Guess the Grade" = when a coin is graded by a TPG and you want members to guess the grade.

From the pictures, hard to find any tiny nicks or scratches on this one.

I will stick my neck out and say
64.

GTG post was edited after I realized I should take a guess. So I added the second line. That Oregon is good to go tho. Nice coin!

I tried to compare it to some PCGS MS67/68 examples on Coinfacts, and they all looked like that to me.

Thanks. I suppose it's because I have too many coins ruined by old and ugly fingerprints. That pattern stands out. This coin is not in any way ruined by that, though. If It would grade 63/64, it may be worth submitting, depending on your initial investment and grading fees.

Yes, I've seen many slabbed coins with fingerprints on them. Unless the fingerprints grew/appeared on the coins after they were slabbed.

From examples I have seen, this is a tendency of the series.

I don't mind saying I spent $170 on this. It might be worth getting it graded, but I love being able to hold coins! I generally keep examples like this in airtites. Maybe if/when I ever decide to part with it, it could be submitted. (yeah right)

Thank you so much for the opinions and feedback. Much appreciated.

To me, the obverse is lifeless and almost suggests a mishandled Unc coin. Is it just the pic? Id like to see a better angle.
