It has some zinc rot begining and I want to halt it.

That is a very good question, but one to which I don't have an answer. Once the copper plating is nicked and the zinc core exposed, I'm not sure what can be done. For sure you would want to keep this in a very dry atmosphere, but you may just be slowing down an inexorable process.

I'll try the acetone, but I need to order verdi.

Do ya'll think it's worth an ANACS submission?

@cookiemonster, no it doesn't. It depends on what you're dealing with. Light fingerprint vs corrosion, it makes a difference

Is the rim all way around the coin. The image makes it look like part of it is missing.

OK. I wouldn't soak it in acetone. There are stains on the plating. A coin that has a premium I'd never attempt anything on them. Best to leave as normal. If you do something you regret, you just have to keep kicking yourself.

If you find other common cents with the same issue, you might try acetone on them to see if it would help or hinder the coins condition. Stains just don't do away most times.
