I did that a few days ago but hasn't helped. I feel sorry for the guy and will probably just refund him his money. Not much else I can do. I shipped it in a bubble mailer with tracking on Jan 28th.

It will eventually show. Make an inquiry with usps.

Open a 'Missing Mail' request with USPS. You would be surprised at how often the package suddenly shows up on tracking again.

I have three packages now that have quit tracking after they hit Eugene. It says they're in transit to next destination but nothing after that. I have a feeling that we have a thief at the Eugene post office. I'm using a 6x9 mailer today to see if that helps. Much harder to put in your pocket.

If it was me (as the seller) I would issue a refund immediately. The buyer has already waited almost three weeks since their purchase and should have their money refunded.

At the same time remind the buyer that the coin will end up at their address or your address eventually (99.99% likelihood of that) and you would like them to notify you and pay you the refunded purchase price if it does get to them.

For a high dollar purchase it might be different, for $71 just refund them now.

Yes I'm refunding him and will probably send him a few free IHC's as I feel bad for him.

I feel your pain. My shipment from the Mint (Apollo coins) has been "out for delivery" from my local PO since Feb 2nd. I did the lost package thing on 2/12. Still nothing. I did get a survey from the USPS asking about my experience with the case worker after I was contacted by the USPS but have yet to be contacted. So I said "not to good.". I wonder why the bills and junk mail are never misplaced...

I submitted a non-delivery form to the Mint yesterday.

Hope your issue is resolved soon.

Since you're doing the refund, you should have the PO intercept the package so that it will be delivered back to you

I understand how you feel, but if they haven't opened a case, hang in there. I usually message the buyer, and see how patient they are. Two weeks past due isn't common, but it happens. The package always shows up. Why be in a hurry just to send a refund? Since I buy and sell, I never put pressure on a seller if the coin is late due to USPS nonsense.

I've refunded a buyer before when a package didn't arrive for over two weeks. But it gets a bit awkward asking for payment again when the coin finally gets delivered.

Thanks everyone. We've been in contact with each other. He was very patient and deserved better.

And if the coin finally shows up at buyer's address after refund, should the seller only rely on the buyer's honesty to pay again? Or there is a way when the Bay steps in and forces the buyer to pay?

You're basically at the mercy of the buyer. As soon as the sale is refunded it's a closed matter as far as ebay is concerned and ebay never forces anyone to pay
