ebay won't be offended and take them down because they still get final value fees when they sell.

It is beyond me why someone would buy a gold bar from a new, unknown, seller.
However, couldn't the buyer get their money back?

Yes, ebay covers you but you better respond in a timely manner. A lot of people don't break the seal thinking it's worth more that way and won't find out until well later. Or it's the heirs that find out. I buy sealed pandas occasionally but I always open them up to do my verification.

My experiences on ebay so far have been problem free. Coins I have received from smaller sellers are almost always in perfect condition. Coins from the big dealers are mostly perfect. Some just alright. In 2 cases they were horrid and there was no problem exchanging for another.

Just stumbled upon one of these on ebay for the first time - thanks for having this info up here. It seems they've fixed the formatting issue with the bar weight going out of bounds of the specs box, although the "Gold Content - 1" does have the "1" not 100% aligned on the one I found: One more thing to pay attention to on these is the font on the bar itself, which is best seen in the letter "M" of the word "Mint". A fake will have a "boxier" M, with "flat peaks", whereas a real one will have "sharp peaks": Fake: Genuine: Seems to be the same counterfeit factory that created the fake Perth Mint bars in black assay cards (gen 3), because those bars use that same font. See FakeBullion's page on " Perth Mint 1 OUNCE GOLD BAR IN BLACK ASSAY CARD (GEN 3)" to see what I mean.

There are numerous differences on both sides of the bar as well as the holder but you only need to know a couple. That is what we call the "Straight Sided M" when reporting counterfeits . Notice how there is no slope on the sides. Also what you are referring to as peaks are called serifs.

I buy coins/bullion on ebay, no problem, but mostly from established businesses like Bullion Exchanges, Liberty Coins, APMEX, etc. and trusted smaller stores I know are legit.
