Quote: I see your building your slab collection... Sadly since I can't get out to the coin shop, I've only had ebay and I don't like to get what I can't exam myself, so I assumed a slabbed coin would have an impartial and accurate grade, but I could be wrong But honestly most have been very reasonable, close or even less than what a RAW coin would cost. If you notice majority of my slabbed coins are IHC. I am running out of good price IHC on ebay, may have to do a clandestine drive to the local coin shop

It's sure a nice one, except for the ED. The reverse wouldn't bother me, but the obverse damage is permanent. The damage hurts eye appeal on this coin. Regardless of the TPG's opinion, the ED would be taken into consideration as an eye appeal price adjustment in a transaction. JMHO.

Ok time to post! And the coin graded STRAIGHT? NOW before you because I picked up a fake details coin, I actually believed the grade was good until I got the coin. I checked both the pictures the seller had and on NGC. On NGC the coin looked dark and with a small spot, but because the picture was bad I assumed the spot was on the slab. The sellers picture had 0 verdigris. I mean 0. So I assume either some editing? or just a weird angle. Since I was buying based on a grade, I offered a lower price than what the seller was asking and he took it. When I got the coin I was I was tempted to file a claim with NGC as the grade is wrong, but NGC charges $20 to do an appearance review and considering what I paid for the coin, it wasn't worth it. So I just returned it. Seller refunded my money as was totally great about the return. So overall the seller did everything to keep me happy, but this coin should have been documented better. So this was a case of buying the slab and not the coin and boy was that wrong.

No the holder and coin is real. But it should be details not straight grade.

Glad it worked out. Hard to believe anyone would give that a straight grade, much less a premier grading company.

I've had coins that I thought were over graded on the slab but nothing like this. A pure details coin grading straight :( I don't generally buy on ebay and I don't generally buy slabbed coins as I don't see the value of slabs but since I can't examine the coins I've been buying slabs on ebay (dang covid 19!) but lately the grades are just not accurate. This coin, the 1863 at AU 50, which is probably an AU 58, several others. I know people buy the slabs but they just aren't as accurate as many people make them out to be.
