Hmm, I expected to see an exquisite world coin with a beautiful design . But a Kennedy half dollar is the last coin I expected to see . All the comments that you've gotten and all the ones that have yet to come should tell you something about your coin that you have put on a pedestal .

Most "beautiful coin in the world"? Ahh, no. That honour would go to either the Mercury dime or Walking Liberty half. It's all up to personal opinion, you have yours, and I have mine.

I must agree with you, to a point... I think that the Kennedy half is one of the most beautiful coins I have seen. Not YOUR Kennedy half, but Kennedy halves in general.

I felt like I was reading one of those listings on ebay where the seller wants $5000.00 for a $10.00 coin

Quote:
i would also like to say that the man I got this beautiful half dollar from sent it to me in a plastic that had a black cardboard insert. no date on it like I have seen on others. id have to look but the words "memorial half dollar" were definitely on it. he told me that he lived just 3 miles from the kennedy compound. he said that after the assassination of the president this coin in these plastics were being given out for free to everyone there. he said the streets were littered with the plastic cases that I received it in. so anyone that has an opinion that this coin might not be something special hardly holds the story this man has. this is the most interesting beautiful coin. looks totally different some days than others. its almost like an alexandrite gemstone.

This quote came from a different thread of his on the same coin. He did not like the reply's

Yep, I'm afraid so.

We might need Bobby to lock both topics, as they are getting no where.

Those who remember where they were when Kennedy was shot have a deep, emotional tie
to this coin.
Those who do not see a common silver half dollar.

I see a very nice example of a '64 Kennedy half. I have a few similar ones in flips. And yes, I remember where I was at on that terrible day.

I have a box of 1964 Kennedy half dollars in varying grades that I've kept mainly for the silver value. One day I'll be selling them. This is a pretty coin but certainly not the most beautiful coin in the world. I'll take a Liberty Seated half any day of the week.
I also remember where I was on that terrible day in November, 1963.

Bottom line is obviously the OP has emotional attachment to coins and specially Kennedy halves which I personally am very fond of but I must agree I would not put it in ** the most beautiful coin in the world category **and particularly not above my family and friend
Time to move on.............
