So, Coop, even though it appears to be a strong second strike, you believe this is a true mint error, correct? Also, Josephm99, you seem to agree with Coop. So, do any of you have some suggestions for asking price and where to sell? Are there any TPG suggestions? Any auction house suggestions?

You might create a search on ebay for these for a time and watch auctions to see what they sell for. Watch for copper Memorial planchet examples. (Zinc cents would be lower priced) get several in almost the same coin conditions. After you have several examples for ending prices, average them to see the price range. That would be the best way to know what the market is. Some may pay to much, some will sell for less because of condition. So an average might be a guide. It just takes time to figure this out, but won't cost you anything. Find an auction and click on Watch feature, then check back later after the auction ends on myeBay.

This is an entirely conventional in-collar, flipover, double strike, with rotation of the coin between strikes. The relatively strong first-strike details give this specimen exceptional eye-appeal.

You may also want to contact a dealer who is experienced with error coins, I'm sure they could give you assistance. https://ctferrorcoins.com/ seems to have a lot of errors available.

@TemplarX, I did have my example graded. http://goccf.com/t/353294As far as I know it's the finest known double struck in collar copper LMC known. There are finer known in the zinc composition, however I don't know of any finer in copper. There are some known in MS64BN, and I think I heard rumors of one in MS65BN but can't confirm the existence thereof. If it can't be confirmed mine would be the finest known. Pretty cool IMO.

Quote: You may also want to contact a dealer who is experienced with error coins I would hold off on doing that if I were you. mikediamond has spoken,so include his quote with your submission form and send it to a reputable TPG. That will be you best course of action at the moment.Once you have it back, then you can decide on selling it or keeping it, but the important thing is that it has been authenticated plus back up experts opinions.

Chase007 and GrapeCollects, I had no idea who Mike Diamond is, or about his expertise in error coins. Quote:Mike Diamond, error coin specialist, is lead author of Coin World's weekly "Collectors' Clearinghouse," which delves into how errors and varieties are created in U.S. coinage. Coin World: https://www.coinworld.com/authors/m...diamond.htmlIt looks like I came to the right place. I told my brother what you wrote about including his opinion in a submission to a TPG. Thanks again, to all who commented, and a special thanks Mike Diamond for the nice comment.

Thank you, SilverCents and NDCENT!
It is actually my brother's coin. He found it in change about 30 years ago, but hasn't had it graded yet.
I believe he is going to do that soon.
