You can buy a clip on magnifier for your phone for cheap or a usb microscope for not all that much either. Either way you will fight with the lighting. Check out our photo section for tips and ideas to help you. Practise XtimesX 10

Wait isn't the iPhone 11 supposed to be "famous" for "the best phone camera yet?"

I really don't like Apple products, or trust the company. Hugely overcharging, along with committing a big scam a couple years.

Yeah this phone sucks I hate apple my wife made me buy it and I have had nothing but problems the lighting I have adjusted and changed 100 times zoomed in and out the same changed the setting everything it litterally takes me almost an hour to make a post because of the pictures I don't shake but it seems like I do while trying to take a picture and and I've even used items to stable my arms but even the littlest movement seems to throw the focus completely out of wack. I feel like I could either draw a picture or explain it in detail better and faster. In short apple lies the camera may be good for something but up close small shiny things it is worthless and aggravating to try and see errors. I end up going to a Manuel magnifying glass. Yeah so don't get one if you enjoy pictures

I'm looking into the usb one I'm trying to find one local but looks like I need to just order online. Should have done it before but my last phone I could use the magnify app and get stellar photos on well

Fair enough. I've always had issues with trying to take closeups of coins with my phone, no matter which phone it is.

I use this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Plugable...ion/47408841

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Mic...75410&sr=8-4

It's pretty good, has some lighting problems though, but for a $40 microscope that's to be expected.

On the matter of the dollar, I'm seeing MS60 at best--possible AU58.

First couple pics of the reverse looks cleaned. Later pics don't. Maybe a low MS strike. But for me, too much going on with the cheek and around the date. I think it would be a details grade. '23 Peace dollars are pretty common. And easy to find in similar to higher grade. If it is a details coin, not much value here.

I'll say MS-62. Confusing pics for sure.

Here is a great thread by Darth Morgan about using an inexpensive way of using an iPhone for taking some amazing coin pics.
http://goccf.com/t/160092

Go through it to see how he made it even more simple as time went on.

I improvised by buying three 6.00 LED desk lamps from Walmart. I positioned them around the coin. My device for positioning the camera was a stack of books.

Don;t zoom the camera in before taking the picture as this can introduce the blurriness. Zoom in on the picture itself to crop it.

Here is a typical pic taken with this simple set up:

I was only after nice looking pics - not perfection, and the pics on this thread only took the time to stack the books, place the lamps, and snap the pic on a white backdrop. I am not a photographer of coins - but this sure works for me. Oh...I still use an iPhone 4S for the pics. I have to wonder what your new iPhone would do.

MS-62 at best. The coin looked AU in some of the photos.

Its hard to tell based on the photos but its just a common Peace dollar. I would say AU58-MS60. Based on the watermarks/milk spots. There are also dings throughout the coin. There is high point wear on the obverse and I don't see circulation wear on the reverse. It looks like that coin may have been stored lower in the money bag. There isn't much mint luster. The reverse is better than the obverse. Probably AU 58 Obverse, MS 62 Reverse, net MS60. Sadly the dings and spots keep it low on the grading scale. As far as value, if I was buying it, I would pay $17/$18. It's pretty much bullion with a little numismatic value.

I have a iPhone 11 but this camera sucks

I use an iPhone 8, and I LOVE the camera for lots of reasons, but for coins, I think it is wonderful! I use it zooming into about 5X (primarily for cents) and then use the in phone editing tools to crop and adjust tones/lighting, then using "the cloud" I further edit on my computer (I use Jasc Shop Pro) to re-size to CCF's standards.

Yes, there are lots of steps, and yes it takes a little time, but like anything else, the more you use it, the better you get and the faster you become. I have a USB microscope, but I use it only for examining coins. Personally, I think the iPhone's camera is easier to use, but maybe that's just me.

OK, Jeremy, you asked for comments, so here goes... first off, you gave us way, way too many photos! Usually, we ask for photos of both sides of your coin, then A good, sharp close-up if you have a specific question or issue with your coin or MAYBE two, then that's it. Many times photos given to us aren't sharp, or aren't close enough, but that's not the case with your photos. Overall your photographs are pretty darn good! Also, please be specific with your title and wording of your question. Many time we have to guess, and that's not good for anybody!

To help you towards perfection, your lighting is too bright, and you need to crop your photos to the very edges of your coin. I understand your need to make sure we see everything, but you gave us too many photographs, as already mentioned. If you stick to photos of the front and back, and one or two close ups, you should be fine, ok? If we need more photos, we'll ask and if we do, please don't take offence to it.

Since we're already digging deep here, don't hold your coins with you hands/fingers! It makes us cringe! Your coins can easily be damaged by oils in your fingerprints. Better, buy inexpensive cotton gloves from your local coin shop or hobby store (to protect your investments).

We are a friendly bunch here, so don't be afraid to ask questions. It is important to post your coins in the right section to assure it's seen by those most interested. (You posted your Peace dollar in the "Modern Grading" section, but it belongs in the "Classic Grading" section- the moderators will move it for you )

I look forward to seeing more of your coins, Jeremy. Again, ask questions anytime about anything, and we'll try to help you out. Please give your iPhone another chance, it is a fine camera! Best of luck to you!

Luster looks great but obverse is a bit baggy. MS-62 to MS-63 range. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt since it's gleaming and say 63.

Shaking can be taken care of by propping the phone up above the coin (as mentioned in the links I posted before) and use the 2 or 10 second timer option built into the iPhone.
