Title should be more specific. Nice find. I don't know the values of the AM varieties but would it be worth having it graded and conserved rather than experimenting on a good coin?

Maybe an experiment with common coins is in order?

I don't see any value more than 1 cent.

Not much of a premium for the 98,and that condition doesn't help. The 1999 WAM is the biggie. John1

That was the best that I could do on this coin.I believe that this coin is a 1998 wide A M penny. What would be the best Way to clean it. Can try other coins to see which does the best cleaning job

Quote: What would be the best Way to clean it. You can ruin them and they can lose their value . Acetone is ok , it would not hurt the coin if just a soak without cleaning tools .

In my opinion is a Wide AM. Now: Acetone is good against polymers or other sort of glue. Isopropyl alcohol is a good alternative to methyl alcohol against any sort of fat(inclusive new finger prints). I do not thing this coin is worth to be restored.

let me see if I can help with a larger pic - an image obtained from the original one. It may be a little pixelated but you can see it. So no complaints if you please...
