My favorite set I'm workin on us my 7070. Its really the only set that I am actively workin on. My favorite series definitely has to be any coin with seated liberty on it. I love the way she sits so gracefully. I have been reading and becoming more interested in the braided hair Half Cents. Then there is the well ya know just about any coin gets my attention. |

Lately (in 2008), Nickels from circulation.  It's pretty hard to beat the sheer fun of finding a VG 1911 Liberty and a full-date full-horn 1935 Buffalo in bank rolls  , or even better, getting Nickels like 1938-S and 1943-S Jeffersons handed to you in your change!  To me, you just can't beat the thrill of getting a true classic collectible coin from circulation! For this pursuit, Nickels have been unbeatable (although the 1909 Cent I got in my change last month was also an incredible find!). |

Unfortunately, I have so many favorites. I'll just name a few. For the last couple of years, I have been trying to build a set of Roman Imperial coins from Julius Caesar - Caracalla. I collect Roman and Greek coins that depict the mythological creature Pegasus. I recently started a collection of Franklin halves. |

I'm into world coins. No specific time period or region, and ancient and mediaeval coins are just as good as moderns. One From Every Country (OFEC) is the goal.
Having said that, there are some specific areas I happen to have more coins of than others, so you could say they are "areas of interest":
- Canada, where I was born
- Australia, where I've lived most of my life
- Britain
- The United States
- New Zealand
- Germany and German States

Although I have other coins, I like Jefferson nickels the best. It is a long and diverse series, knowing which are hard to find and hard to find in certain conditions makes the hunt fun. There are a good number of varieties of which all can actually still be found in pocket change. Many of my couple thousand Jeffersons are costing me nothing as it was my nickel I just put aside. That's cheap! Even if times get tough, there's still the Jefferson to keep an eye on. Finally, these are really starting to get more respect with collectors. |

I have recently pulled my collection out of storage after 25 years and will focus on finishing my Lincoln Cents (5 left to go) and my US Type Book (80% finished).
So it's Lincolns and Types, which will take a bit and then it's on to Buffalos.

I guess it would be Mercury dimes. I've got well over 3,000 of the things. Recently finished sets #11 and #12. Set #1 is almost all MS. Also, have probably over 30 rolls of 1943 Lincoln Cents. Most from 1943 when they were new. Have a few of the Copper coated ones too. Maybe a little on the Lincoln Cent side too. Have 10 completed sets of those. Set #1 is almost all MS. Actually have over 100 Whitman Albums of almost every type US coins. Most are full or close to full. Having a problem finding a 1913 Liberty Head Nickel though. Collecting coins for well over 60 years so this is really a tuff question. |

Lettered Edge Bust Half Dollars. Why, they're Big, Old, Silver, Steeped in US History, and only a few hundred varieties are available, 450 Turban Head (1807-1836) and 103 Flowing Hair/Draped Bust Halves (1794-1807) or so and I'll never be able to complete the set$$$...

I had a thread about my newest collection so I essentially did a cut and paste on why I selected it. I started to look into Franklins. They are a in a relatively short series, so assembling a collection won't be too difficult. There were millions minted so the availability for decent grades is not out of control. I think it's an attractive coin. I have strong ties to Philly. Ben's my son's name and I've always been a fan of Franklin as a statesman and inventor. And they have just as much silver content as other pre 1965 halves. |

Well I got into coin collecting when I started buying the Silver Eagles. But now am hooked on the entire hobby. I roll hunt Cents, Nickles, Dimes and Quarters. I am also trying to put together a Lincoln 1090-Date Cent set. I'm also thinking about buying a 7070 type set album.

I started w/ dollars I like them cuz I can read the year w/out my magnifing glass :) and I am now doing halfs when I find them and I have started on Cents cuz they are cheap and always offer a hope at finding an old one lets get real dollar coins getting and old one is a 79 SBA whoopie! and I am now doing 4 rolls of LMCs a night |
