that was a question...either you have or you haven't ...the coin does exist thanks

I'm an Alien, I do exist, you've seen me or you haven't. If you haven't seen me, you can't prove I'm not an Alien.

To answer your question, no I haven't, and because of that, will assume you're wrong and that it doesn't exist until you show evidence otherwise.

Why so combative? You apparently have already confirmed " 4 other seasoned vets " Not really sure what you are looking for, however your current approach will certainly get fewer responses. FWIIW I would like to see a picture as well.

Have a great day!

We here are a very visually oriented group (and not all gentlemen), and we would LOVE to see your half dollar. You say you are new to collecting and we applaud your choice joining our group. Part of being a member involves sharing what you have if you have something unusual. We realise you only asked a question, but you peaked our interest by your inquiry. Can we please see your coin? Please?

to the CCF!

I have NOT seen one, so if you were to post up some pictures of the one you have, then I could say yes, but until then. it stays no.

Now, how would we KNOW if we had one if we don't know what to look for hmm? A visual guide would be... helpful in that case no?

You could have one that is not listed. But in order for us to give an opinion on something, no I've not heard of that before, but I didn't know about the listed ones on V.V either. But to prove/or not is done by seeing images. You could have a doubled die and have flat field doubling, or a doubled die and have Machine Doubling. Depending on which strike the Machine Doubling happened in this case it would be a doubled die with the secondary issue. Or if it is not a doubled die, you could have flat field doubling and Machine Doubling. Then it would be considered as a normal coin with MD or flat field doubling. (Not a doubled die) Example:

So by providing images we could determine what you have.

Be glad to check it out to see what is there. Most of the nice Franklin proofs have large spreads on the reverses:

(not the same year) But these are easier to see. Look for the spread on the center of devices.

I'm really not into shaming folks even when they may be behaving shamefully (as often am I so doing)

I read your question. It calls for a "no" or a "yes." There are plenty of "no's" within your reach if you include everyone who's never come across a 1957 proof half. Yes is more elusive, methinks.

If you do get a "yes," is it OK if the responder appends, "but I refuse to discuss it!"?

That's unlikely to come from CCF's side of the interchange.

Kevin

My 57 proof set is still sealed. Wondering if I should take a peek at it now.
