The only thing stated by the mint is that the MM was below the date and to the right of the jacket. You see a lot of different placements even in the same year.

There is a thin bar extending from the NE tip of the S connecting to the lower tip of the 5.
I understand MM's can vary in location but few connect to other devices.
No premium perhaps but informative I hope.

Hey guys are there any known mint marks that touch the date? I know of one, a 51D and they are so rare they go for hundreds in circulated condition. That's my favorite RPM

Yea they are. My brother sent me a picture from a pawn shop with a 53s that was labeled mint mark touching date. I bet it was one of those rpms.

Yea frog I stumbled upon it on the CoinFacts app. It's not listed on any site I've seen. I think there's only a dozen or so of them known. All circulated. A couple VF35 sold on ebay in 2013 and 14. They went for around $100. I would jump on one of those if I ever saw it come up.

That 51D isn't listed anywhere because it's a die chip/broken post I believe.

" In the one example he showed a D/D repunched mintmark on a five cent piece where the first D was touching the E in FIVE." What E In FIVE is the OP referring to? lol. I'm confused?

Will: That looks like just a die chip.

I wouldn't spend 100. on a die chip.

No I wouldn't spend $100 on a die chip either. One coin in that link is a mis attribution. I don't know why PCGS would call it a RPM if it wasn't.
