Can't be a cent struck on a nickel planchet as a nickel would not fit in a cent collar die. Looks like it has just been plated, you can see copper showing through

I put nickel planchet because of its color. I can't say if it was actually even a planchet error. Ergo...why I'm here.

Agree with the plating assessment. Appears to be a 'lighter' plating with some of it wearing thin. I have three or four similar mid-90s memorial cents.

To my eye, coin pictures appears to have been rubbed with mercury. It it had been struck on a nickel planchet. it would have weighed exactly the same as a Nickel.

Can we can see the Reverse and the side of the coin? Also Diameter and the weight?
