The marks on the cheek are scrapes\bag marks. It's the same on the reverse caribou.

I'd say MS63 but PCGS are not fans of marks on the devices so MS62 from them.
Cheers, Bill

Even with Market Acceptable grading, I think at best it is MS64.

Probably how they saw this coin was technically a 64 but they raised the grade to a 65 due to the toning.

papeldog For Canadian George VI and Elizabeth, I see PCGS (and NGC) do a lot of this... 1. MS64 or MS64+ surfaces 2. Nice color 3. Net grade = MS65 or MS66 dependent upon the eye appeal of the toning Heck, NGC does the same thing for US coins. There's an 1879 Seated Half that I posted here that NGC rated as MS67+. At best it is a MS66. Wade The coin is for sale on ebay. I am not advertising for them. I am discussing a coin they happen to have in inventory and pointing out the problems with the TPG assessment and result.

With any high grade coin, especially toned ones, you need to see it in hand. Lighting and angle can make such minor items look massive or hide major issues.
In general, the graders are offering an opinion, they will make mistakes (both ways) and you need to keep that in mind. Overall as I learn their standards, I am thankful they are around as it does make buying/selling much easier.
Thanks for sharing your examples and keep posting.
