Possible acetone dip candidate (then xylene if it does not come off)? Cannot tell what the black is for sure.

I was able to remove the dark stains from this one. No ED present.

I used a Q-Tip dipped into E-Z-Est and dabbed the dark spots letting some of the solution stay until the dark lightened. Then a water rinse and dab dry with TP. Dipping the whole coin would have eliminated the original patina and given it a bright look.

Hey IGE you could give a tutorial on your conservation methods, impressive! Mortally all I ever read here is 'acetone'.

wallyb, Acetone works great for removing glue from tape, paint, and other types of debris. It will not change the color of the coin. It does not remove tone and stains.
