@Itzwert
I posted something that may help you understand a little more clearer.

The posters on here are correct in what they're saying to you and please don't go by ebay.

I agree with Spence and others that this is most likely a Dryer Coin.

Yes, I'm thinking early stage Dryer Coin. Or, possibly early stage spooned.

Another point, the copper core of the normal clad quarter is clearly visible on the edge, a nickel does not have this. Take a quarter and try it yourself, repeatedly rotate the coin while tapping the edge with a hammer.

It's all PMD - early early dryer or spooned coin. Does not matter how, it did not leave the mint that way.

Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

itzwert you said it right when you stated the coin was small than a quarter. When you roll something on edge, the the coin gets smaller and the metal has to go somewhere so the edges go up higher in return. I hope you can see what I mean. Therefore sounds like circular motion like a Dryer Coin. Kind of like when people make rings out of coins. PMD.

Weights are different on quarters and nickels. Get the weight and you will know for sure what you have.

I could re-edit that for my information. Divide the areas into denominations and enlarge them and coop-afify them. The images is too small. The information looks as rough as my toenails.

You sure have good luck finding all these error and variety coins in Rolls over a short period of time, even if this one is just Dryer Coin.

A damaged coin is not an error coin. It is a cull coin. When they get back to banks, they will return these to be canceled. Not a plus for a coin to be damaged.

But it was listed on ebay as an error. If it's listed on ebay it has to be true.
