I was permitted to search 3 different fields which were recently ploughed Wheezy.Im in Bucks County Pa.
I got a few quarters , barbers and a liberty and other dimes barbers and rosie , pennies and nickels.
This was by far the best find I reckon.

Thats what I've been thinking biokemist6 , I dont strain my brain over it too much,ive found D mark coins too just as old but not quite as rare.
Thank you for the grading guys , its a keeper for sure.Now I can label it , thank you.

I believe I read that there are two mint mark varieties. The CC below the wreath being better. The CC within the wreath more common. It appears this is the better of the two?

The CC mintmark below the wreath is normal for 1877. 1875 has them above and below the bow...don't know if one is more common than the other.

nice details...but not EF
a most generous grade would be VF-30 IMHO
This coin has a type 1 and Type 2 Reverse
Does anyone know the difference?

I think the type I and type II has something to do with the distance of one of the letters (the "E" in "ONE" possibly?) to the wreath.

I'd call it EF details, corroded and cleaned. Congrats, this is an outstanding find! The Type 1 reverse has the E in ONE almost touching the wreath. I believe your coin is a Type 2 which is more common. I'm pretty sure my NGC MS-64 1877-CC dime has the Type 1 reverse; here's a reverse photo. I asked PCGS if they would attribute this variety but they don't recognize it, at least not yet.  |
