Must be a Greaser, can't explain it any other way.

Yes, that would be a very nice example to put in a 2x2.

Doesn't look like any Greaser I've ever seen. There is something more involved with this one. I'm leaning toward PMD from a high heat source.

Yeah, it may be a Greaser but it's also sustained heat damage. I don't even think a Coinstar machine would take it.

I'm with NY Islander - the reverse roundish areas on and below the Memorial seem to be too well-defined to have been formed by grease.

So does the copper raise up and hide the devices? That's the only way I could see that happening. I won't argue with heat being applied but find it hard to believe that it would erase the devices without getting rid of the copper plating. Guess it could happen though....

I disagree with it being damaged by heat. I think it's just a major Struck Through error.

I am going to be alone on this and say it is a type of acid that has made pot holes in areas along with eaten away devices, there is clearly spotty area that are below field which to me, indicates acid.

After zooming in...I'd say a Greaser and now a headache for me.

I suspect that this is post-strike damage, possibly a combination of chemical and mechanical damage. I don't like the way that the Memorial looks flattened in those areas where it hasn't been entirely erased. I don't like how the right lower steps are pitted. Some areas do look like a struck-through error, like where the N and E of ONE are abruptly interrupted. However, these can't compensate for the many signs of damage.

It looks like a corrosion issue rather than struck thru grease. The coin looks like it was exposed to some kind of corrosive substance or had been laid down on it's reverse on the ground. It looks like it's been cleaned and reverse shows several zinc rot spots that has been popped.
