This one was $375 in 1989. I'll post pics of Encased Coins when they arrive, just received grades and images so far. Having zero previous experience with using any TPG I decided to go with PCGS based on internet consensus.

I heard a story about the mint that produced these coins. The had a cigarette vending machine where packs cost 48 cents but since the machine couldnt give change they placed 2 pennies in the pack of cigarettes. On the day the DDO was struck the 2 pennies placed in each pack were all 1955 DDO

I was mistaken about the grade. The one I originally posted about is, in fact, XF45, but I was pleasantly surprised that the other one did go up a grade. That one was $450 37 years ago, I found an image I saved of the original flip it was purchased in.

Outstanding key date variety. And now you have two of them! IMO the King of Lincoln Wheat cent varieties.

Very nice pair of '55 DDO's. This coin is what got me interested in major die varieties many decades ago, though I didn't actually start adding examples to my collection until 8 or 10 years ago.

That is awesome having two of them! One thing didn't make sense about the cigarette packs story. Cigarette packs were still sealed in cello back then Right? How would the mint put Two Cents change into each pack? Sounds more like urban legend to me. No matter, that is a great score!!!
