Put a piece of paper over it and rub a pencil lead lightly over the paper. If the letter is incuse the letter will be white paper and the surrounding surface will be dark from the pencil lead. if the letter is sticking up then the letter will be dark from the pencil lead. Or rub you fingernail over it - your nail will catch on it if it is sticking up

This seems like one of the high points of the coin. Easy to get hit and look like an error. PMD is my guess

I just Have a hard time with it being PMD in my eyes and yes they recently have been checked should be good lol. At first I agreed with the Dropped letter. But it just seemed to be raised to me. So I angled the scope and took some shots. I will try again here in a few.

I hope its not PMD or the work and reading was pointless lol

Littlemg2, you should contact Mike Diamond. He's an expert on this kind of stuff. Go to Members on the top of the page, type Mike Diamond, and email him.

NOT the way to look at it at all! The work and reading is what this and anything in in life is all about! You do not get something for nothing, and the learning process is hard, no matter what it is. Stick with it if you care at all about it, whatever it is, if not, move on....

If you enjoy it, stick with it, just saying. There is much work.

Since the isolated element appears on the highest point of the design, it's most likely a contact mark from another cent.

well took the scope apart and welded a new apparatus to it to allow better angles for flatter shots. Let me know..

I guess my struggle is when I loot at it a can clearly see an edge from mark to coin. Maybe its an optical allusion who knows
