I'm not a seller, but a buyer. I'd been buying tokens for several years from a local seller (both of us in San Francisco) who switched from padded envelopes to the ebay system a few months ago, to save postage fees (~$4 for padded, ~$1 with ebay). The padded envelopes never had a problem. Shortly after changing to ebay envelopes, two of them got lost in delivery. USPS informed delivery had images and claimed "delivered" but they never arrived. The seller refunded both but was confused by the problem, claiming no issues with any others he'd sent out this way. He suspected misdelivery to the wrong address, but when that has happened before a neighbor always brought it to me directly or put it back in the postal system. I suspect something in the "last mile" and stopped buying from him for this reason; haven't had any problems with any other seller also using ebay envelopes.

@Alpha2814 , your information is correct padded envelops do not qualify for ebay standard delivery system, ESUS works if the evelop size is correct and the weight does not exceed 3oz if the package get's to the destination!! I've been using ebay's delivery since it's inception on 2021 but most recently it has become problematic, as we speak I have Three packages out there without any trasitional trace for over a week and Two week's,another I ended up issuing a refund since there was no movement indicated on the tracking and another one shipped on DEC 25th and ebay tracking shows going from illinois hub to Indianapolis then to Nottingham MD and after that NOTHING!! On its way to the buyer. Shipped to buyer Fri, Dec 27 Delivery Shipment history ebay Standard Delivery: ESUS235185738 Mon, Dec 30 8:45am In Transit NOTTINGHAM, MD 21236Sat, Dec 28 5:34pm Destination processing INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46299 Fri, Dec 27 5:48pm Destination processing FOREST PARK, IL 60130 Wed, Dec 25 8:14am So I refunded the buyer, filed the claim with ebay to use the seller protection ,they refunded me for the item and then charged me $20.00 for process fee !! (which I have since had ebay revise the charge)

As a buyer, I've been requesting sellers not use the ESUS program when shipping my purchased items. For a couple bucks I can track the package, with accurate updates, and arrival times in days, not weeks.

@nfine. I get it that's one way of avoiding the issues with ESUS but it is a good alternative to save on postage since sellers wouldn't ship pricy items via ESDS anyway, you are able to print the label and put it in your mailbox for pick up versus driving to the post office, it's just disappointing. And trust me it'll cost more than a couple of bucks to get a tracking for regular mail I used to be able to add tracking for $1.75 but not anymore.

As a seller, I had barely any ESUS problems for all 2024. This year has been a mess. Late status updates, missing status updates, just a tangle. Other buyers have told me the same thing. I don't know what changed, but February has been lousy as both a buyer and seller for ESUS shipping.

I mid-February I purchased an item from a seller who shipped via ESUS. The item was reported delivered seven days ago. It showed up in my mail box yesterday.

I have had a few buyers this year report that an item was marked Delivered, but didn't show up until days later. I have a suspicion that they play with the delivery date to make their metrics look better.

I had a padded mailer show up this week, shipped via Ground Advantage with no label, no stamps, not a single mark of any kind on it, just the hand-written address.
The seller had been quite concerned that tracking wasn't showing up in the systems.

As a buyer, I've had issues with ebay standard envelopes. They routinely arrive 1-3 days later than when the tracking says "Out for Delivery." Last fall, USPS lost one envelope despite ebay claiming it was delivered. Thankfully the seller refunded me, but the envelope has never been found.

Since posting this topic in mid Feb. I have had Two more issues with ESUS !! One is still showing at NY hub that was mailed Two and a half weeks ago to my buyer and another one that does not show it was processed at the USPS therefor I was forced to refund the buyer since ebay stated there's no evidence of shipping it !!! this is just getting rediculous. As I mentioned previously This is a common problem because the ESUS scan codes are proprietary to ebay and most USPS hubs do not even scan them.( that's what I was told by our post master!

Chase, did you open the external tracking link? Many times, that shows more information than has populated into the ebay database. An ebay rep told me that they are experiencing slow data updates. Keep checking that envelope, you might eventually be able to claim insurance on it. That said, I did just receive an ebay envelope that traveled for 2.5 weeks through the mail. I have also received a few this year that never had a single tracking data update anywhere along the way.

It's not just ESUS that I'm having problems with. It seems that many of my incoming packages are having a staycation at the hub in Baton Rouge. Some were scheduled for delivery on 3/17 but that has changed. All except the final one (international) have the dreaded "In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late" tag.

I'm glad my package isn't the only one stuck in limbo... Hope they all get to you soon!

Thanks, Zurie! It's a bit frustrating to keep checking Informed Delivery to be informed that the delivery will not be when they said it would.
