Could be a Struck Through error. Mike Diamond should take a look at this one. It could just be PMD though.

Again, nice photos. Coin_rejector makes a good point that this could be squeeze job.

The area under the date and lower left shield are interesting.

I'm in the damage ball park.
When you say it is too large to be reeding, what coins did you use to compare it with?
in your posted image, it does look large, but in actually it is small in relation to the cent itself. I'm thinking that maybe an Eisenhower dollar's reeding was pressed into this coin.

"Man made error" - Take a half dollar and tap it with a hammer as you roll it across the surface of the cent. The lines on the reverse coincide with how many times the half dollar was hit by the hammer!

The marks seem unusually deep for not rupturing the plating. It's certainly visually interesting.

I'm in the camp on this one. =)

Reminds of a checkering tool imprint. Used mostly on wood or leather. Thanks, Doug.

I lean toward post-strike damage for two reasons: (1) the shallow depth of the impression and (2) the presence of damage on the reverse face across from the obverse serrations. That said, I find the length of the "tank track" puzzling, as the impression of another coin's reeding should be shorter and should fade out at both ends. It's possible that a quarter was rolled across the surface under pressure.

PSD is the most logical explanation for this coin. That being said, it's odd how the flow lines in the field of the coin seem undisturbed, flowing from what would be high and low points if it were from damage. Very odd....

I find it strange that the impression appears to curve slightly.
