Your heading is referring to a cent, not a nickel.

Always post a complete photo of both sides along with any closeup when making inquiries.
Guessing by the partial photo you supplied, I would say you have damaged nickel.

There is no possible way for that to happen during the striking of
the coin so by default it is PMD no matter how it happened
