I think CACG gave it MS-65 but Scrooged you on full steps.
Are those color splotches on the coin, or are they just photo or camera flash artifacts?

I'll go with 63/64. Some hits on the obverse field and bottom and cheek of Jefferson. However, from the pics a very eye appealing coin , so. . .

Seeing all the coins I sent to CAC. I bet they said damaged coin and would not give it a grade. Am I right?

That's a really nice looking coin for the grade.
Errers and Varietys.

Where is the circulation wear on that coin? Cheek, temple, building high points look clean, the luster looks good. I don't see any chicken scratch from usage.

Wow shayez that came out good. The gold around the coin photo looks damaged or flaking. They called mine environmental damage and would not grade the coin. I guess I am looking at the photo wrong. Nice coin then.

This is where they probably made their "AU" decision on this coin?

CoinForMe, I did actually pause on the triangle and porch when the coin was first posted. That typically shows wear first on a nickel. However, on early Jefferson nickels, that area of the coin also tends to show Die Deterioration of the details fairly quickly. The obverse looked good, so I figured it was a LDS uncirculated coin. You're probably right, though. Just shows the perils of grading. The difference in price of a 1939 DDR is thousands of dollars between MS and AU. Still an awesome coin that any Jefferson collector would be proud to own. =)
