Side by Side Privy Mark Comparison:  Note the difference in the lettering spacing and thickness. The Army Anniversary treatment of the motto practically reads "WETRUST" instead of "WE TRUST". (See Gilly's note below) Quote:

While the WW2 privy mark is Smaller than the Army Privy mark, They are Both Tiny, Very difficult to See , Thanks Capt, Much appreciated.....  |

We'll to be fair, now you're taking about how fine they can make the details on the privy, which to me was ambitious and I think the results are pretty darn good. I'm still curious where the mint is at on creating the master dies on this release? The Laser Beam privy is suppose to be the first release using laser to create the master die? This privy shows excellent, not perfect, detail. In the future will the mint be able to do the anti counterfeit surfacing like the RCM does? It'll be interesting to see if the detail is even better on the Navy and Marine Corp privy marks. To me it doesn't seem like the Laser privy is all that detailed, but possibly in person it will have some unusual surfacing. Really looking forward to seeing it in person and how the rest of the details will be different with the laser engraving. Edited by Gilly

They are supposed to be small. If you need a magnifying glass to see a mint mark, you probably need one to pick up any detail of what a privy mark is supposed to be. Every coin shop from the smallest store front to the largest online superstore sells magnifying glasses and loupes for a reason. |

My Point, The " Mint Artistic Infusion Program ", Or Whatever the proper nomenclature is, Since the Introduction of That program, Fine details are Simply Not as Defined, Simply Erased, Actually If one looks close enough, The Fine details are Not present in the Shown pictures, Check out the Breast on the 2020 Example, Then the 2025, See the 2020 has a band around same, The 2025 does Not have it at All.. Clearly from a collector's point of view, We pay more and Receive Less than the Mint Artistic Infusion Program brought us . We get Much bigger " Designer's Initials ", Same Silver content, Less design Character, Along with the Privy mark Era that's upon us, Not to mention the added " logo " is While larger than the 75th Anniversary Ending WW2 Privy mark, It is Tiny or Hard on the Eyes, Also We pay approx 3X's + Over spot.  How about going back to the Originally designed American Silver Eagle Bullion Program's Hand Crafted Dies, I for One Would enjoy that. Technology owes itself to performing " Better " than prior attempts, I see the series designs as getting less classic artwork and Less My Vote. |

I'll just lead with the obvious. You seem to be comparing the obverse of the type 1 with the type 2 again. Just realize the type 2 design is not the exact same design. I'd have to study the detail you are taking about, it seems like what I think they can the tunic. This is not part of the AIP. Even if it was responsible, it would still be because the mint wanted the design to more closely reflect what Weinman originally designed. Here is wiki info on the AIP. It has nothing, zero, to do with the designs not been as sharp as they once were, it's only the selection process and also nothing to do with silver eagles: Quote:The Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) is a program of the United States Mint, established in 2003, which invites American artists to create designs for U.S. coins and medals, most notably the 50 State, DC and US Territories, and America the Beautiful Quarters. Works ok with circulating coinage, not so much on collectible or even bullion coinage where you expect a certain quality level. Before CNC it seems like the mint was using a reducing machine. Just received mine today, darn thing has multiple milk spots on it. Other than the spots it's a nice looking coin. I'll be sending it back, for the price it shouldn't have any issues.
