It might even be as high as an AU58!

My first thought was AU-58, since the fields and devices seem to be missing luster in places.

Definitely scratches. Certainly NOT MS-67. It might even be polished / spiffed up - doesn't look fully original to me. I sure hope you didn't pay an MS-67 price for this baby?

GEC is a basement slabber which you should never buy, unless the coin is near melt or fair value considering the coin's actual value.
I agree with Johnny, AU-58.

I like MS-60 for this. The obverse is nice but the reverse breast feathers look almost worn smooth.

I stand by my MS 64-ish grade, I think it's a weak strike on the reverse- very common for NO.

AU55-58. There are details remaining on the talons, the ear and the hair above the ear which would absolutely not be there were it a typical New Orleans weak strike. You can see the convexity of the hair above the ear in the photo; it would be noticeably flatter with a weak strike. Even weakly-struck Morgans show more detail on the eagle's neck than this one: You can get this much apparent "wear" on above the ear and on the eagle's breast of a Morgan in two different ways. This one arrived there through circulation.

I have been in and out of town for the last week. as I sneak into town but don't have the time to post..It is clear its not MS weak strike, Mind you it is a weak strike... but a circulated weak strike...from the OBV it shows the general details of a decent strike with the weak ear details..for the REV. the obvious weak chest.. and why the tallon features>> they should/ would be flat I think Echizento and Superdave Have it DEAD ON, you see that's the thing with these garbage grading systems.....MS 67......and you bought it for crap///////not he thousands it could have been......THE OLD saying if its to good to be true IT IS.......I really feel sorry for those who don't have the knowledge.....and over bid(fore under the going rate?) WAKE UP !! my advise is send your money to me for free!!AT least you know your getting nothing..I have said enough Keep your money.....It was just a point............you can sill send me your cashLOL

If he paid AU money for it, it's a fair deal.
Lots of dealers around here sell those junk slabs at correct grade CDN ask prices, simply because they only pay correct grade CDN bid prices (or lower) to get them. All parties involved simply ignore the junk slabs' "grades".

My question is why didn't they grade it MS-70? If your making a joke of the grading system, why not go all the way? I call it laziness. A few minutes on the buffer and that coin would have graded MS-70 DMPL!

I thought 58 too, it doesn't look unc. Pffft, MS-67. LOL at these basement slabbers. Hope you didn't pay too much for this, OP.

I love these basement slabbers :-) AU58. New Orleans Morgs are known for their soft strikes but there does appear to be light wear on this one.
