Interesting clip from the 40s, especially the SF Mint!  SF was a bit different from today--an obviously more diverse economy. If Market St. had that many street cars today, the city would be less clogged with traffic, lol.

Excellent video!  The whole thing is interesting to watch, especially when you view it in the context of the ongoing war that the US had yet to enter.

When I was there a few years ago, they still rotate street cars by hand, just like in the movie.

Yes, the coins looked to be quarters to me. I just feasted on this movie as I have been to San Francisco on several occasions and I have never grown tired of it!

They looked like quarters to me as well, but whatever they are I wouldn't mind having a few bags of them !
