Always horrible hearing news like this. I wish him or her all the best in their recovery and, the book being thrown at the perpetrator. I am not a VAM guy by any stretch, in fact, I know little about VAMS. I see some are in the lower grade ranges. Must be pretty rare.

Bryan, Thanks for cleaning up my post.
Why don't the folks involved contact all online publications and bring this to the forefront, IF in FACT there is some hanky panky going on at that particular postal facility.

well they are trying to get the word out to everyone they know, not sure what that consists of but do know the one they were taken from is pretty well known and knows allot of people who probably know allot more people. The only thing is (I know it was said in the thread) the person that stole them probably knows squat about coins and may just sell them to a smelter for the price of the silver which would be a real shame because some of the VAM's are very hard to find in any grade and in those grades it would be something to be proud of, just remember the VAM-123 in AU-50 is about a $5,000.00 coin by itself (and there were two of them in this package, one in VG and one in AU)

I almost cried thinking about all that hard work & personal satisfaction (if you will)& dedication to this Hobby disappearing in an instant. I wish only DEATH to the ~!@#$%@#$% who stole these coins. I am still a greenhorn to this hobby, but as my wife will tell you I LOVE my Morgans more than I do her. I can only hope & pray that they are recovered & not melted. It makes me sick to my stomach to even think of that happening to any Morgan.

I have read of this theft when it happened on VW, I also read it is NOT the first time something went missing from THIS Post Office. I believe am investigation IS being conducted, and hope things are cleared up. I can not fathom mailing/losing this amount of coinage at once. I really have other things to add, but another time and topic..... I would think some one would place a tracking device in with some 'not so rare coins', and see where it ends up........

One of the nicest guys in vamming..... very smart guy..... probably one of the most, (if not the most) prolific dealer in such stuff..... it all sounds strange to me, and one question leads to another, and another..... value of $100k ? (to who)? Accurate grading ? SEGS ? Accurate attribution ? SEGS ? Registered Mail ? $100k ? Postal insurance ? $100k ?
I imagine that business loss could be claimed of $100k..... tax write-off ? Private insurance for such an event ?

Zee, We think alot alike? Plenty of questions, leading to only more questions.
" Accurate grading ? SEGS ? Accurate attribution ? SEGS ? Registered Mail ? $100k ? Postal insurance ? $100k ? " This statement speaks volumes!
" value of $100k ? (to who)? " This line is special......
The entire subject you have touched upon IMO, leads any person capable of thinking wondering, you would think?

I don't think attribution is a question considering who we are talking about (not to mention SEGS has been pretty good about attribution I believe). The grading may come into play but not allot. Now the value may be inflated just as everyone else does when something gets gone. Some of those VAM's are going to be hard if not impossible to replace but that doesn't mean the value is priceless. I have coins that are priceless to me but may only be worth $20 to someone else

Exactly..... and just to be clear, I was in no way implying anything at all..... I guess that it is natural for me wonder why, I do that with movies too, many questions that never get answered...... I'll bet it all was insured or registered, but the main focus is to catch thieves. I do hope everything comes out okay one way or another..

To also be clear, I feel this incident brings up MANY topics that "Certain" people do NOT want discussed and these people also happen to be directly involved in the selling, pricing, marketing, or another phase of dictating the Rarity or Value of these coins we have come to call Vams. Zee you are absolulely correct in your "statement" you have posted above, I would like to start a topic about the entire " questions no one wants to discuss ", which led to me being banned from that site, because I asked a question. "I would like to know just how many people on the board of "uvwxyz" site are coin dealers"... This question led to as the Moderator stated, You have no idea the problems you have caused by your actions, My phone has been ringing ALL night. Makes you wonder..........
