Some Washington quarters from 1956P-1964P were struck with proof reverse dies. These quarters have a space between the bottom of the E & S in the word STATES as a pick-up point. They are in the CherryPickers Guide and are becoming very popular as collectors find out about them.

Cool I did not know that thanks for that information. How do you know if it is a B or a C?

The C reverse is only found on the 1964D quarters. It is rarer than any of the type B quarters. It has the reverse of the clad 1965 quarters. The pick-up point is the split tail feathers. If you look at a 1965-1997 clad quarter, you will see the split tail feathers clearly. If you find the split tail feathers on a silver 1964D quarter, you have found a rare variety. An AU piece sold on ebay a few months ago for $75.00

Check your 1964D quarters!!

The type A are normal reverses. The type B were proof reverses that were re-used for quarter reverses from 1956-1964 Philly minted quarters.

Type "C" Quarter reverse:
Rev-B-25c/Rev-C
These were to be used on the 1965 quarters, but some we used in 1964-D Quarters. They are always fresh crisp dies with some devices with sharp details.

Thanks Coop You always give good illustrations and they are very helpful. I found a 1962 Quarter in my collection that the e s have a gap like the other letters unlike my other Quarters dose this look like the rev. B that we are talking about.

Sorry, but all I can see is a quarter. The details are too blurry to tell for sure. Save my images and you can have it as a reference to compare to. You probably can see more than I can from your image. The ES and the A on DOLLAR is a couple of places to start looking.
