The coin I present here is in an older PCI slab. Earlier PCI grading is considered to be pretty accurate, and I'm always on the lookout for these older PCI slabs. Note:  Green trim, 10-digit serial, and the Futura-family typeface with the perfectly round "C" and oblong, almost-rectangular zeros. There are some serious bargains to be had in these older slabs due to PCI's relatively poor reputation among knowledgeable numismatists. So, what did they grade this coin?   |

Nice SuperDave. I also own a couple of these early PCI slabs including a 1944 Lincoln that's PCI MS68RD. It's no longer RD it's RB now  Enough about me! Your SLQ is very attractive and it's graded PCI AU58 as stated. Slightest rub on knee. Nice! swcoin.ecrater.com

It's funny, but I normally don't buy full RD or even RB Lincolns. This was purchased on a whim. My Lincoln Danso is comprised of XF-MS BN coins only. I have had a 1909 V.D.B. fire RD in an Intercept Shield for 4 years now. No change in color but, when it comes to my Dansco, I find BN Lincolns to be much more attractive and you don't have to worry about them going BN ;-) Quote:

 Like I say, early PCI slabs can be bargains, and the grading is accurate, even conservative. $60 shipped for this one, and I personally grade it AU-55 which makes it about a $100 coin. |

I also see this coin as AU-58. There is a trace of rub at the knee, the shield center, and the eagle's breast. The luster appears nearly full and the surfaces are original. The date is sharp (unlike on many MS examples) and the head is maybe 80% full. Nice pick-up, Dave!
I wouldn't think that the upside potential of getting an AU-58 grade from NGC or PCGS would justify the re-grading fee.
