Poll Question
Do you like the Latin phrase on all USA coins "E PLURIBUS UNUM", in other words, do you think that it's appropriate to appear on coins? Just to let you know, this Latin phrase means anything similar to "One out of many".
Other than that, for the new English sentence "IN GOD WE TRUST", do you like it or not (on the coins)
Please post your comments and reasons, if you can.

The actual translation for E pluribus unum is.....out of many, one. The phrasing is important as it changes the meaning drastically

I like them both, as they both accurately describe the vast majority of our country.
However, there is no way to vote that in the poll. :-)
Edit: And aye I agree that "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is better translated as "Out of many, one." "One out of many" is kinda the opposite.

I was always told money says "In God We Trust" because it was short for "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash".

Anyone well versed in the actual (non pc-polluted version they feed our kids/college students nowadays) history of the US will understand why these phrases are included and why we, as Americans should be proud of them. The paradigm behind these concepts is what brought America to the position she has held.
This is not opinion. Deep research will bring these truths to light.

Ever since they put In God Wet Rust on coins and especially paper, their value has plummeted.
In gold we trust still works fine.

Why change from an accepted tradition?
They have something of the 'flavor' of 'The Founding Fathers' about them.
If something else is introduced, there will almost certain disagreement from at least some sections of the U.S. Public.

The tradition was that coins didn't advertise a god until 1864, nor bills until the mid 1950s.

American coins have too many mottoes on them. The make American coins far too wordy. Pick one motto and use it. Or, if you've got you use all three (EPU, IGWT and "Liberty"), put one on each denomination.

In Latin E PLURIBUS UNUM = OUT OF MANY, ONE
Representing our ties to the old world from which people came from around the world to build one nation.
In New English: IN GOD WE TRUST
Representing the path forward for this young Nation in the language that would tie us together. And where the basis for our faith would come. And a calling out to those around the world who saw these coins that these are the beliefs of this country and if they are your beliefs please come join us.
Just My Humble Opinion

"E Pluribus Unum", I'm good with. However, "In God We Trust" should go.
