I have about 100 1973 RCMP quarters. Whats the easiest way to tell(by naked eye) if they are the Small or Large bust?

Look at the hair detail . The small bust has more detail in the hair .

The tip of the bust on the bottom right will almost line up vertically with the leftmost part of the "A" on the large bust. On the small bust there will be a gap.

from the pictures I can see that the large bust has the extended serif on the "A" in regina, and the small bust has a very small serif

Easiest way is to get a 1974 25-cent (which is a large bust), and use that to compare with...

I think I heard way back when that all the business strike large bust went out west and the east got the small bust ones. I know a few bar waiters in New Westminster, BC who done well on them from change in the 70's. I was lucky enough to find a MS-64 years ago

I have always looked at the beads. The beads are near the edge on the large bust, just like the 1972 bust.
When I was a paper boy in Ottawa (for the now long dead Journal) in 1973, this error was discovered. A friend of mine (age 13) found one first. Boy was I mad! But I did I find two.... one then and one a couple of years back when I opened a roll of 1973 quarters that I had made up in 1973. Both now in ICCS MS64 flips.....they were the ones that boosted the MS64 population a couple of years back. I sold one.....will keep the other as a keepsake.
