Their Twitter feed and Facebook page are also down, not looking good. Hope no one is waiting on deliveries.

I'm sure that there are people waiting for deliveries..... makes me nervous buying from online dealers now.

I just googled their name and found some discussions about them on kitco and stacker forum... someone said they will reopen soon... we can only wait and see. But as an online dealer, going offline for a week is a big blow. Even if they reopen I don't know if I am going to buy from them again ... They disappeared once, they can disappear again.

If they are re-open, I would not buy from them again. Luckily I didn't place an order. If I did, I would be in my pant trying to figure out where my order is and what happen to the deposit and such. You figure if they were to return, they would post a notes on their website saying when they come back and please contact us if you had your order in before we shut out website and everything down.

You'd think that if they were going to come back they would have a couple of high ranking employees spend 5 minutes on these forums calming their customers/potential customers' fears by saying something like "We want to take this opportunity apologize to everyone for this unforeseen technical glitch and we hope to be back online shortly. All of the orders in que will be processed as soon as possible. We truly value your business and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."
Rather by not saying anything, not responding to phone calls and emails etc. they are actually just saying "go _____ yourself!"

So Precious Metal House didn't show up to Torex, and I heard they traded in gold maples at the refiner at spot. That only says one thing to me, they're done. Unfortunately I think they did it to themselves, working on too little of a margin. For the local bullion dealers I think this is a good thing, the guys who had been doing it for years slowly got pushed out of the market by websites like PMH and SGB. For anyone who purchases their bullion from online websites I suggest attending one of the larger coin shows to avoid this type of disaster, you can see and hold what your buying without worrying about shipping and paypal fees.

Actually.. what if someone order.. they probably have to put in a police claim or something eh?

I assume that they would have to go through their CC company first.... but if they didn't use a CC then maybe a police report is the next best option (albeit it is still not a very good option overall)

I wouldn't compare SGB to these guys, that's for sure.

Quote: I wouldn't compare SGB to these guys, that's for sure. I agree I would not compare their business practices, I was just referring to the Canadian online bullion suppliers in general. I have ordered online from SGB a number a times when they had something I couldn't get from local dealers, but only ever dealt with PMH on a face-to-face basis.
