Or a 3 Cent, or Large Cent. Dealers usually have really worn, beat up common dates that are nearly worthless. I just want to see the look on the cashiers face, or if they will actually take it. They probably wouldn't stay in circulation long. Some non-collector will think they hit the jackpot.

Most people will think they hit the jackpot if they find this coin in circulation.

I have tried before but only 1 out of the 6 people I tried to pass it off on took it. She got a nice F12 1864. the other five said it was not real and refused to accept it.

Mc D's Cashier " Sorry this is not a real coin"
Wallmart Cashier "I can't take this sir"
Shell Gas station. "This is a foreign coin"
Demasis Restaurant "this is not real"
Wallmart 2nd attempt. "I don't know what this is"
Taco Bell "Cool got any more my boyfriend will love this"
I have a similar problem with Kennedy half dollars especially young people.
I give all my tips in restaurants in Halves and pay for small purchases with them.

Good Luck USArmyParatrooper it will be fun. Just make sure you tell them what it is.

Demasis Restaurant "this is not real"

lol

I would have said something like, "is that your EXPERT opinion?" Why do people say something as a matter of fact when they really don't know?

Very interesting, but expected. I asked the clerks at the gas station if they accepted the new Washington Dollars. At least they had heard about these and accepted them.

Wow, I thought 2 and 3 cent pieces were rare and costly, even in poor condition. Can they actually be picked up that inexpensively that you'd simply give they away? That's new to me.

By the way, what you're suggesting is actually a lot of fun with $2 bills.

Back in 93 you could pick up F12 2 Cents for about $5 if you were patient. You can still get AG3 one cheap. Just sold one on ebay for less than $5 with shipping.....

I was watching some mindless t.v. the other day and someone was running a "reverse auction" where the lowest unique bid won a new car.

I was thinking of bidding $0.005 cents and telling them I had a Half Cent coin to pay with...

Instead of the spending them you can send them to me lol. Just kidding.
If I could afford to spend such coins it would be interesting to see the reactions lol

A month ago, after a long session with the barber (including a haircut for a 2 year old, 2 adult haircuts and a shave) I ran out of paper money, and tipped him with a Peace dollar. It was not refused, and after what he had been put through, he deserved it. But from now on I'm going to carry walkers and Franklins for pocket coins....

Funny how I was thinking the same thing.

I recently bought an 1867 Two Cent Piece for our oldest son's birthday. He was born in 1967, exactly 100 years later.

Anyway, as I was looking at the coin I was thinking how fun it would be to try and spend it somewhere!!

I don't know, this whole thread is sounding a little silly. If you want to have some fun with merchants, okay, that's fine. But use Ikes, Sacs, SBAs, $GW, $2 bills, etc. Save the rarities for your collections. If you know a new collector that's just getting into it, save the 2 and 3 cent pieces for them. They'll appreciate them more. Just my $.02.

Yeah, I've thought about dropping something like this on the beach and watching my friend dig it up while we are metal detecting. I think he'd freak out. Ha!
