Hi,

I just got hold of this recent 1949 silver dollar. Knowing it is a very common coin, I found it very nice. Any opinions on how this would grade?

I am tempted to get it graded by ICCS...

Thanks in advance for replies.

looks like too many surface marks for a high MS64. I give it MS 60 tops.

Looks like a typical AU slider 1949 (AU55) Nice already certified 64 65 coins are readily available at 50-70 dollars. Do not get it graded.

Do not waste your money on grading this 49 dollar. It's value would be BV ...IMHO.

MS 49 dollars were often sent to the banks in tubes and that's why so many can still be found in near perfect condition.

There will always be a glut of perfect 49's and therefore never rare and of no special value. Of course SP 49 dollars do not fit in to this classification.

Funny Ah..!! If this was a 48 from a year earlier ,..it would be worth nearly or more than $2000...

Yeah.. I agree with the others, not worth to send it in to get graded..

Probably a AU-55/58 or so, nice keeper though!

EF 45. This is one of my favorite coins. For some reason, they seem to get a slightly different hue coloring to them.

We have to admit that after staring at all those canoes,...this coin,.. and it's design is so beautiful and therefore so collectable.

Thank you All for your opinions and valuable advice !! Either it is an EF-40 or a MS-64 grading is longer in my plans.

But, as most of you said, it is a keeper and nice change over the Canoe.

Cheers and thanks !!

I'd say AU-55 tops because of the scratches
