The auction could not be more clear and is not deceitful in any way. As another poster above already asked, how would YOU write the description?

If it is not deceitful how did they make $970.00 for selling 37 pennies with a stock photo of a roll since July?

I think i'll have to copy that listing and start selling them too for that kind of profit, if is is not deceiving anyone....

Inward - Once again, how would you describe it.

I'm inclined to get my hands on a roll of these, and auction them off with the exact same title/picture/description, except I would add in big, bold letters, "REMEMBER, YOU ARE BIDDING ON ONE COIN, NOT THE ROLL!!". I sincerely suspect these coins would still go for about the same price.

People are overpaying, but that isn't the sellers fault. There's thousands of products that people pay for every day. You likely over pay for your groceries, for your gasoline, for your insurance, for your car, for your house. In fact, most people on here have likely overpaid for many coins in their collection. If you aren't prepared to shop around, and fully understand what you are buying and the value of it, it's on you, not the seller.

I think some of these people posting negative feedback after spending a ridiculous amount of money for a single penny - exactly what was being offered BTW - are mostly mad at themselves.

But then I suspect some of them have also sent money to Nigeria, or even tried buying this bridge in Brooklyn.

Now people are paying for the beauty of the wrapper. The collecting desire is no longer triggered by the coin itself but by the wrapper. I would rather buy a MS 66 raw 2012 penny instead of overpaying for a roll of 50, ignoring the possible crappy conditions that the coins might have.

I think it is the picture that is misleading people. They use a stock photo, with no proof they even own the roll in question, let alone opened it.
I requested a picture of the actual opened roll and never heard back.
I'd want to see a roll like this one,

Another-Mis-Leading-Scam-Artist-On-Ebay?

but i'd want to see the roll #, but that doesn't mean the penny you get is from that roll anyways.

I agree with 'buyer beware', and the seller does say one penny.

But it would be like listing a '999 silver bullion bar' with a picture of a 1oz. bar, and saying you will receive a 1g bar in the fine print.

As noted by other members, knowledge is king why would you pay 50 dollar for a full roll of these ordinary 2012 pennies, there is no distinction from a regular roll that you can purchase for 5.00 at any show.

Buyer Beware. If the buyer has no time to read the TITLE then we can't be going around mothering them.

i know read the fine print , thats fine but I think its a different matter when the seller is trying to trick you into thinking something else, at first glance I thought these auctions were for the full roll as well and I put it in my watch list and it was only at the last moment did I realize I was wrong but you have to admit it could trick a lot of people, and it has. and the seller knows this ,in my opinion that is a scammer.
it just has a wrong feel to it! and I think if he keeps it up he might get some bad feedback!

I just emailed him giving him an idea.Told him he could sell 25,000 pennies with that same photo nobody would know the difference if they do not check his previous sales. All the 2012 1 cents are the same without the wrapper.

so who then will police ebay? ... ebay?

ebay is a community built on community policing.
left alone ebay would do absolutely nothing except collect their fees.

defending our hobby and calling BS when we see isn't "out of line", the auction(s) in question ARE.

The 3 negatives left for the one seller are from the same buyer, he paid $95 for 2 pennies thinking they were full rolls, and $100 for a bronze coin that can still be ordered from the RCM for $34.95 wow! hope he can get a refund....

And the other seller got 3 negatives today for the same reasons.

Yes buyers beware, but how many more people are going to be purposely deceived by these sellers? It should concern any ebay coin sellers, as these people make every coin dealer look bad.
Who wants to buy that silver maple leaf coin from him? Looks just like the ones from China....
