check these 2 sellers out,the make you think you are bidding on a full roll of the 2012 last million pennies but if you read carefully you get just 1 penny, people are paying upto and over $50 for 1 single penny , I think these 2 sellers are the same guy and its funny how they dont show the hologram number from the roll they state these coins are comming out of. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Canadi...em2a2fdeb040http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Canadi...em2a2ffa6ee2and if you do a sold auction search you will see the have sold over 35 of the in the last few weeks,,, does this look fishy to you? if reported can ebay do anything? I know his add states you only get 1 penny but how misleading does this look to you>?

Well... The ad pretty clearly states it is for one penny out of the roll number provided. Of course there really is no way to know if it really is from that roll but the ad is very clear that it is for one penny, not the roll. Since there are 50 pennies in the roll, if he sold more than 50 from the same roll there would be a problem but so far it looks fairly legit.

You don't know that for sure. That is why they put holograms with serial numbers on the rolls.....so that you would know. As soon as you open the roll, there is no way of knowing if they are from the last million or any other 2012 penny. They are being honest in the listing.....so is it their fault if buyers aren't reading what they are bidding on? One of the sellers probably saw the other do it, and hit the button that says sell one like this.....that will esentially use the others persons listing as a template for yours. Although it could be the same seller it is unlikely as one states location in Toronto and the other states location in North, Ontario.

but it does seem like he is purposely being mis-leading because he found a way to make quick money

I would certainly consider it deceitful. Its all in the fine print.
Unbelievable how many people are bidding on it.

I saw one of these listings a few days ago and was shocked that people where paying so much for one penny. But what I find even more amazing is that some buyers have left positive feedback on the transactions.
I would have expected every buyer to think they were getting the whole roll and then be upset when they received just one coin. Apparently, not.

do the last million pennies have something written on them that the other 2012 pennies don't? whats stopping this seller from getting a common 2012 roll and sending those pennies out?

i agree, I have 4 boxes 2012 pennies plus a few rolls so if I wanted to scam people like this I can sell about 10 000 of the at $20-$50 each and that works out to.........hang on I got some pennies to list!!!

To add more confusion with these oddly worded labels, these rolls are just the last million pennies distributed a chance they are not even the last million produced. Fifty bucks for a regular penny, some people buy anything on ebay.

Quote: do the last million pennies have something written on them that the other 2012 pennies don't? whats stopping this seller from getting a common 2012 roll and sending those pennies out? nothing. Once out of the wrapper, the last million are the same as all of the other millions of non magnetic 2012 pennies.

and one more thing thats a bit fishy is both of these sellers only list the pennie for 1 day sell it and list it again for 1 day,,i guess so people dont have time to report it and have the auction pulled?

I see nothing wrong with the auctions. I really don't see any way of someone believing they are getting an entire roll. The title is clear "2012 Canadian Penny from last million", nothing about rolls. He posted a picture of the rolls as some degree of proof that his claim is legitimate (no issue for me). He also states that the penny will be from roll x/20,000.
You can't get mad at the seller for accurately describing the product if you don't read the description (or title), and make a poor assumption.
P.S. The winner of the $57 coin was almost certainly a shill bid.

people either think they are getting a full roll, or if they glance quickly maybe penny # 8640 out of 20,000. ie $57 for a single out of a mintage of 20,000 either way the description is of questionable taste, and yet they have positive feedback from several buyers...
