  Picked this beauty up at the local coin dealer for $132. Looks to be a pretty beautiful coin, so I think I did well. My guess is EF-45. Thoughts?

EF40 with possible PVC damage, you should get that in some acetone before its too late!

VF35 for me, agree you should soak it in acetone overnight.  Ouch! My head hurts from looking at it sideways.. Edited by Night-Hawk

I had to "fix" this presentation:   I have this one as the 1819/18 O-102, an R.2 variety. Strong VF, and as has been mentioned this one really needs to meet some acetone before it's destroyed forever. Shnug, Search this forum for "acetone" to learn about its' use - we discuss it very frequently - and make it so before the PVC eats away enough silver to finish the coin for good. |

Nice coin! The members suggest a soak in acetone to stop or eliminate the green PVC . If it is PVC you need to soak it.
The process is explained in a number of post.
In the left hand corner is a box, "Search Coin Community."
Type in any key word ie. acetone, cleaning and start reading.
Let us know your results.

No. In fact, I'm not at all ready to call this one "cleaned," based on what I see in these images and what I know about coin photography. I see little evidence one way or another regarding surface originality aside what might be halos around the right-side stars. |
