One is an 1/2 crown 1697 with edge description. Looks like Spink 3487. The other is an Shilling 1723. Here I am not sure. Probably the standard issue London type? Tryna Pillar of the Community United States 937 Posts	Posted 11/04/2014 1:14 pm To me it looks like you have George I shilling 1723 with S/CC arms of England at the date first bust.(it could be second bust as I do not have my references with me at work) Looks to be in About fine or fine it may be cleaned. Value 20 to 30 pounds or so, $50 or so American. The william III half crown looks to be very good, maybe a bit less. I cannot see it well enough on my computer to see the mint. Many English collectors frown at collecting this grade, but I would be proud to put it in my type set. I thing you did well. Report this Post to the Staff

I am just learning and always get amazed at how reasonable pre 1800 English coins are. Anything US dated pre 1800 can be like buying a Renaissance Master painting. Report this Post to the Staff

zookeeperz Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 695 Posts	Posted 01/15/2015 11:22 am Hi Tryna Half-Crown is indeed S3487 Nono. Large Shields Ordinary Harp. Shilling is S3647 C/SS in third quarter. Notoriusly weak strikes on many of these. Yours prob would grade NVF. Letters and nuumbers always had problems. Not enough umph to nail them home Report this Post to the Staff
