Well, I finally got my 16-D after missing out on the Questionable 1916-D I sent in that came back as a 16-S.

I will be sending this one in after the Holiday's. I am wondering if it has a chance at G-4? I am 99.9% sure this a genuine 16-D.

Thanks for looking, Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! RK

Looks G4 to me. I'd try an acetone soak on the reverse PVC damage. It does look genuine to me too.

Thanks BH1964, it is slightly crusty. I was thinking the same thing, but I did not want to "mess it up". it does have a few spots of green as you pointed out,and also in the date on the obverse.
I better do some reading up on the acetone soak, I know there are plenty of threads on it.

I wouldn't mess with it myself, you might not be happy with the results.

Excellent coin - appears authentic based on my limited knowledge of the series.

The PVC residue needs to be managed prior to submittal to any TPG -

It's not difficult and will not damage you coin if done properly.

There are plenty of threads on the CCF for 'how to' - read them and execute the needed conservation (this is not the same as cleaning).

Hopeful that you update us when the lovely coin is certified.

Nice. Perfect. Ditto on getting the PVC residue off prior to submittal.
