We need to honor Liberty more so than any president. Not to knock the presidents...seriously...but the concept of liberty is far more important than any one man (or woman!)
I realize that today's art style would likely render Ms. Liberty in a very modern way...much as we see her change in appearance through the late 18th century right up to the late 1940's when she left our coinage. It might take awhile to grow used to a modern design, but it would be worth it.

I like what the mint did by putting Ms. Liberty on the Dollar coin, I think the design of liberty should return on the obverse of a circulating coin.

I voted yes...but with the lack of quality and design of many coins these days I fear Liberty would lack her grace, beauty and dignity.

I think they should but only because I would love to see any change on the coins most people use. I don't include the dollar here because the simple fact is that few people use them. Liberty would be great but as Thingee stated she would probably not be like the Liberty of the past.

I voted no but only because it would never be done correctly. We would get a clad piece of junk that would need to change every year and the image of Liberty would be the modern Statue of Liberty image so as not to confuse people with some strange female on their pocket change. I did not mean for that to come out so brash but I just read what I wrote...
I particularly like the images on the early American gold and silver coinage and, in my opinion, the power of those images can not be recreated by those individuals designing, engraving and minting modern coins. I don't think the people that would be interested in seeing Liberty on coins (us) would appreciate what would be offered if a "throwback" program was initiated.
I will retire from my soapbox now.

I voted Yes because the old designs featuring Liberty are my favorite.
I share the concern that the Mint could even mess up a good idea like this, but I think they're running out of ways to come up with worse designs. Probability would suggest any kind of change is a decent chance for improvement.

I voted yes, just because our Presidents are just plain overused. Good 'ole George never wanted to be on any currency and he is the most overused of them all! He's on the dollar bill, dollar coin, half dollar & dollar commemoratives (modern & classic), and various other items I probably haven't even seen.
Great way to honor someone who was modest and who's only request was not to be on any currency!
I agree with Bilbo and I don't think the mint wouldn't do any better or worse with lady Liberty than they haven't already done with anything else. As for people being confused by their coinage - my experience is that few people even look at it...

Most def, I agree with hunter20ga, and we need to push hard to restore both Liberty and artistic quality to our coinage.

i voted for miss liberty id rather have a nice looking women on a coins than a ugly president. I mean we have had the same coins in circ for years now we need a change but no crummy modern change. I would love for the idian head cent to make a comeback and many more coins but this wont happen because people with good taste arnt in control of what coins are made. which my recent decsion is no modern u.s coinage untill I approve.

I would want them to bring Miss Liberty back (and not make her look like the statue of liberty). While the mint would probably make 600 different Liberty designs in 3 years, I hope that they would mainly stick with the same design for a while. I think the mint should take the classic liberty designs and make them a little modern. That's the big thing these days, taking classic stuff and modernizing them (Like the new Mustang's). I like that the mint was doing with the platinum reverse designs.
