What's a philatelist doing over here on the Dark Side?!

Well, like many here I have inherited a modest coin collection. Nothing jaw-dropping upon first look, but it does go back to the colonial-era with exemplars of most (if not all) US coins. A couple hundred "English Pennies" in rolls - some farthings too. The obligatory mish-mash of common worldwide stuff. Some better WWI and WWII material, as this came from a H-U-G-E militaria collection. Even a few medieval, Greek, Roman, Shogunate and "Cradle of Civilization" items.

As a lifetime philatelist, being a coin collector has always gone along with that. Now I need to grow into the numismatic side, so as not to do anything horribly stupid! (Like cleaning them with Tarn-X!)

On a personal note, I am grudgingly over 50, married, new puppy and the youngest (adult) kid seemingly never going to move out!
Having spent the last 30 months caring full-time for dementia-afflicted family members (yes, plural), I am trying to figure out how to escape from this semi-retirement and get some sort of normal life back!

to Dark Side! Coin collecting, like the dark arts, can be highly addictive. Be warned that you might cast aside those stamps for piles of 19th century coinage in no time flat.

Burton - Close but no tuppence for you. If you want to go there, it is "Moo U" as we began as an agricultural college. (Where's the poo emoji when it's needed?)
