hello my fellow earthlings
lurker for a while now currently living in belgium and about 40ish + years So I want 2 introduce myself onhere and share the story in how I got onhere and how I got into numismatics I have a family member who has obtained a incredible, outstanding collection of coins in his 70 yeas of collecting. so you might think he gave me the 'virus' but helas, it did't happen that way. I've been without a clue the whole time but that changed not so long ago.... While working on a job (mover of furniture and house clearences) I came into a cellar wich I had to clear so I was nosing tru the stuff down there (coz the owner said we could have anything in the house as some sort of payment wich I agreed to). So naturally I was looking for the good stuff first and I scavenged the cellar untill I found some metal boxes, I opend them and there was a few kilo's of coins 1700's tru 1900's. and I next to that box I found like a kilo of old ancient coins to go with it at that time....almost 1.5 years ago I was realy realy clueless. so one day my uncle came by and I spoke to him on what I found...i shared the story with him like I'm sharing with you that are reading now Smiley Nway, he looked at the coins and gave me the advise to buy some books on the subject and sort them myself. i tols me the coins would pay for the books in the long run. Wich I did...since then I got a little smarter but I'm still clueless on alot of things, that I know. i bought some world coin books from 1600's - date and got sorting .....
now the reason why I am here
easy part was the dated coins.... although grading them is not always my cup of tea i got tru most of'm so now I found the time to start looking tru the ancient coins from time to time, but I realy realy have no clue....and no cataloges of ancient coins. did read up a bit but not enough to be even slightly knowledgeable. so many emperors and they all look alike :p So I want to try and combine the knowledge I gather onhere while I read up on ancient coins.and possibly start identifying some of'm...if I can sort out how to upload pictures first hahaha
so yeah,i have otained some nice coins in the last year I dug into it. and hope to show some while onhere
Time to start making some posts
you can ask me anything within reason
p.s can you discuss value of coins onhere ,just asking could't find anything in the rules

Welcome, dohcollector. I look forward to seeing some of your ancient coins in the "Ancient, Roman, and Medieval Coins" section. I'm sure we can help you to attribute many of them. Value is occasionally discussed on that board...although it (value) is rarely, if ever, the main topic of a thread...but, yes, it is sometimes discussed. I don't think there is a rule against it.

why thank you Bob! I guess I will be needing some of that help realy bad. wich I already got yesterday !! https://goccf.com/t/240188and although money is not my main drive I do like to know these things I think you can understand that. the only problem is that I don't own any catalouges except for the world coin books (1600-date) and internet , I do not have any further resources like this russian rare I posted I got the info but not the rarity and today's value https://goccf.com/t/240187and i'll add a small preview of what I have in store for this site ;)

to CCF! Those pages look like they contain PVC. This can be bad news for your coins.

Nice looking collection! CopperCastle is correct...if those pages contain PVC you'll want to find an alternate storage solution quickly!

thank you for the welcome jack
coppercastle I think it does contain pvc I have been noticing white rings in these very new maps and I realy have some price possessions inthere but I specially bought these in a coinshop so I would not need to worrie about storage on long term base I've been putting them in albums, like this, for the past year ,should I remove them all?
heya Celtic mmh I've spend a couple of 100$ on these maps and folders. I have more then a couple of these books. i thought i'd store 'm in a good way instantly to have no headpain after.... so better place'm in cardholders ?
btw thx for the welcomes and warning guys!! not that I'm looking forward to removing them all out the albums, but I will once I astablish a better storage way

Looks like you've got lots of sestertii and other large Roman bronze denominations, dohcollector...and most look identifiable. There are quite a few Roman experts who regularly visit the ancients board. I know they'll be happy to help.

ohw Bob don't get me ahead of me,in my planning I wanted to do the smaller ones first and now you got me looking haha and aamof I do own some very nice american specimens too like the 1864 L indian copper head ,1909 VDB Lincoln Centand the 1917 M type 2 liberty quarter to name a few its quite small though my american hoard ,hard to come by here and if they on sale they are ether in bad shape or prices are not reasonable and I read buying coins oversea's is subject to VAT (and a drag) thats why I don't have many american coins
