I can buy AU to BU 1964 Kennedy half dollars for $5 at 2 coin shops in the area. The same shops offer Good (maybe) Walkers for $6 to 6.50. Both are 90% silver, right? I have been buying them a bit at a time. What gives?

what gives, is that the walkers are much more valuable than the Kennedy's, because I have heard that the 64 Kennedy half was saved by collectors more than any coin in history

It doesn't matter which is more valuable...they are both steals at that price because it's considerably less than melt value. I'd take them in cull condition at that price.

IMO these are reasonable prices, but these are the norm in my area of the world as well, and I didn't think of this as a super buy

I've seen dealers at shows paying $5 each for them because the current intrinsic value is near $6 (this happened about a week and a half ago). I would grab as many as you can if you are into silver coins for the silver value or silver speculation.

Buy the Kennedys if you are after the silver. They are both a reasonable deal, but the walkers are worn and you would be surprised at the amount of silver you lose when this happens. If you ever tried to sell your silver in bulk for for melt, most refineries and dealers actually weigh the coins and do not just count all the halves as the same. Buy the Kennedys.

I got a quote on some '64 Kennedys from a local pawn shop just yesterday. He wanted $6 a piece. I may even be able to get them for a bit less if I offer to buy all he has. Are they still a good deal at 6$ each? Mind you, these are all circulated and he just has them lying loose in the glass case. He also had some other siver such as Bens, Walkers, Morgan dollars, quarters, etc. It looked to me like he thinks way too much of the Morgans but I might be able to make a decent deal on much of the others. Any advice? -Thanks.
