Kennedy Halves Question - Coin Community Forum

Connor Pillar of the Community United States 2130 Posts	Posted 02/25/2008 2:32 pm For some reason I have always held on to my Kennedy half dollars I get. Is there any of the Kennedy half dollars worth holding on to or should I just cash these back in to the bank? I am refering to any from 1970 - present...Are they worth keeping? Not sure which ones, but there are plenty of sources. I think it was 2001 when the mint no longer circulated them (except 2005). I think they're good looking and worth keeping, even if they're worth no more than 50 cents. Report this Post to the Staff

mycrob Pillar of the Community United States 2602 Posts	Posted 02/25/2008 3:59 pm I would keep 2001P, 2002-present, and some of the lowest mintage dates, if their condition is really nice, like 78, 78D, 79D, 82P &D, 86P, 99 P&D. just carl Bedrock of the Community United States 20753 Posts	Posted 02/25/2008 6:05 pm Basically look in the Red Book or any document that esplains which dates where not issued for dirculation but only in sets from the Mint. Many of these end up in circulation for a number of reasons. Some due to theft of a coin collection, some due to the owners forgetting where they got them, an inheritance with no knoledge of coins, etc. Watch for the edges to see if any are Silver. These too end up in circulation although the S mint mark helps give them away. Report this Post to the Staff
