Since everyone I know is aware that I collect coins, I'm receiving dozens of those crazy emails stating don't accept the new dollar coin because it doesn't have "IN GOD WE TRUST" on it. Then I saw another one stating it is engraved on the edge. Forgive me if this has been talked about at the forum already. BUT, I haven't seen a new coin to confirm this. Does the coin have in God we trust on it or not? I plan to send out my own email to everyone stating the truth so they stop putting down the coin. Thanks! Gussyboy1

This should do it; The first one was released without the lettering, in a reported 50,000 instances. It was intended to have the Motto and other lettering. There were also problems with some later releases

I have received those kinds of fear-inducing conspiracy theory emails too. The fact is that "IN GOD WE TRUST" is incused into the rim of the each coin. This was done solely for aesthetic reasons. There is no reason to panic... Now excuse me while I finish up my bomb shelter

Other than "error coins" made at the mint........ EVERY Presidential dollar coin has "In God We Trust" inscribed on the "edge" of the coin....NOT on the face of the coin.....so .....that's the confusion with people on that. Now, in 2009 due to the President signing the "Omnibus Bill", the U.S.Mint is taking "In God We Trust" off of the edge of the coin and placing it on the "face" of the coin. And if you go back and look at other threads in this "forum".......that's all explained and posted and debated rather nicely.

On a somewhat related topic, I think they should get rid of "In God We Trust" anyways and replace it with the original slogan of "Mind Your Business".

I'm not sure why you even open and read junk mail. Or are those from people you know? If they are people you know, why not answer them with Don't buy a Ford car, they don't have In God We Trust anywhere on the car. Don't buy any food that also does not have that on the food. If you bought a house, did it have that on there too? If you are going for an operation, first tell you doctor not operate unless his utinsils have In God We Trust on them. (And there it really should be). If you go to marry someone, make sure they have that tatooed on their arm. Now that one would be a great excuse to get out of that.

More technically, it was FUD, since it came from a personal friend.

Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt... a marketing ploy at heart, but also applied to things like these "chain letters" spreading doom and gloom.
