Do You Remember The First Coin Of Your Collection?

I have an earlier post about my first coin book and thought I would post some pictures. I don't have any idea what the first coins were since my sister, older sister, received a book also. We would ask our parents for coins and add them to our books, However, my sister would pop out the coins in her folder and spend them. She would often stray into my book also. I don't remember when the yellow tape was add, probably the late 1960's. The tape was added because the book had come apart at the folds and I had also poked a few holes when I pushed to hard on the coins...

guess I'm a later bloomer. I have looked at silver dimes and halves back when I was a teen. My first buy that I hung onto was when the mint put out the first silver eagle. I bought around 5 and gave 3 away for graduation presents. Have bought at least one ever year since.
Think I might get back into SE's more and more.

Great thread, I only wish I knew? My father introduced me to coins, and me grandmother guided me. I do remember as a very young child, probably 5 or 6 going into the bank, to view my dad's coin collection, that he kept in a safe deposit box. I recently drove around town with my 77 year old father, and I even brought that story up, but of course he couldn't recall, probably only because it didn't mean as much to him, as it did for me. Thanks dad for the memory.

What made it stand out was the condition - most bun pennies in circulation in the last few years leading up to Decimalisation in 1971 were lowball blank discs. To find one with all the legends visible and the lighthouse and Vicky so clear just seemed amazing to me at that age!

I got an older Lincoln the other day and all of the holes in my collections for that coin were filled. I got thinking maybe in my old single coin book. Sure enough that year was open. Two hours later I had gone through all of my spare cents and almost filled that book. Mostly the older years are still open, but even a few cents back into the 1920's got filled.

Ok, here goes.
What I can remember is this, I was into HotWheels. I went to flea marts and collected them. At one flea mart many years ago I came across a plastic box like thing that one hangs on the wall. It opened like a dart board thing. But it had some old cleaned coins in it. But it had some quarters mostly. Wow its a quarter board holder. It had about ten silver quarters in it, all silver. I paid around $100 for it. During the next year I added some more silver quarters. AS I tired of it and wanted more HotWheels I sold it for around $100. Later I realized what I had done and dropped the HotWheel thing and I have been into coins since 1999.
