I bought one at the local store a few months ago and it's about worthless.I hope someone can steer me in the right direction. I usually do one type of coin at a time. Thanks for any advice!

Also important is the volume you need to count. If it's a few 100 coins a few times a month, a plastic coin counter tray works fine.
If you need to count a few thousand coins a day... different technology and price points.

I usually wrap a box at a time ie nickels,pennies. My top would be around $75. Thanks again!

Well I believe the decent ones start at about the $200 range. The ones under that jam a lot and aren't efficient. I can tell from the reviews on Amazon. The cassida C200 is good oneI believe. I have the Cassida C200 and have not had any jams,I just finished sorting a 5 gallon jug of coins. It does not sort/count 50 cent pieces or large dollars, but it does sort the smaller dollars like the SBA's. You do need to stop and let it cool down every so often, I would run 2 or 3 quart jars of coins through it, then let it cool off for 20 to 30 min. While that was cooling off, I separated out the 50 cent pieces and Ike's. It really didn't take but just a few hours to sort out the whole 5 gallon jug of coins. My only complaint is the penny catcher should be bigger and the dime catcher smaller. I have not tried the coin rolling function yet, so I can't comment on how that works. It is also good idea to take the cover off and blow out the dust every so often, which I also did during the cool down period. |
